Creative Residencies
We are both practicing visual artists and No. 29 includes 55sqm of dedicated studio space.
In the interest of connecting to other artists and giving them an opportunity to access this remarkable region, we have set aside heavily discounted accommodation for creative practitioners.
You will have shared access to the larger studios as well as your own private space. It is the ideal stage from which to explore the region, create new work, write, think or engage with other creatives in the region.
Your visit is not prescriptive and you set the level of engagement with us. Should you wish to be left alone to just 'get on with it' then we are happy to oblige.
No. 29 is in the Margaret River village and includes a studio apartment especially set aside for visitors. With a separate entry, well-equipped kitchenette and an ensuite, it offers a quiet, secure and private room.
The studio is spacious and light-filled with a comfortable Queen-sized bed. A large sliding door opens onto a deck with an outdoor setting. You are welcome to wander amongst our garden.
Doors and windows are double-glazed and there is a ceiling fan in the studio to keep you cool on the warmer days and cozy on the cooler. There is a heater in the room as well.
Further to free, high speed WiFi, your own ensuite and tea/coffee making facilities, we can provide a breakfast basket each day* suited to your dietary needs. We are a GF/DF house and can accommodate most requirements through our extensive knowledge of what is available in the area.
It is only a short 10-minute walk to the main street of Margaret River including various shops, cafés and restaurants.
Please be aware that the studio caters for 1-2 guests only.
Check-in is from 2pm with checkout by 10am.
We are currently accepting applications from dry practitioners**. Please apply with your CV, your planned outcomes and proposed dates.
Some examples might include:
- Taking part in a local creative festival.
- Drafting a grant application.
- Research.
- Networking with local artists or galleries.
- Creation development.
- Preparation for an upcoming event.
Creative Residency Prices
- 7 nights - $500
- 14 nights - $950
- 21 nights - $1,400
* Breakfast baskets are available for an additional $20 per day. 24 hours notice is required.
** We have limited facilities for wet and/or volatile substance artistic practices. This includes such mediums as pottery and oil painting. Non-volatile paint mediums are ok.
